Moving and Selecting Your Shapes on the Artboard

After creating your basic shapes, at this point, it is helpful to be able to move them around on the artboard board on the current layer.

Selection Tool (V)

As mentioned in Chapter 4, you can use the Selection tool (V) from the Toolbars panel to select a shape or object on the artboard and then drag it around and move it to a new location on or off the artboard. You can also use the bounding box handles around the shape to scale or rotate a shape and make it disproportionate, such as the examples of the polygon and star. Refer to Figure 6-28.

Direct Selection Tool (A)

The Direct Selection tool as mentioned before is used for the selection of individual points on any path, and you can then drag a point to move it. Or with a star, use it to round a corner point or Shift+Click more points if you want to round them with the live corner widgets. Refer to Figure 6-32.
